We call her Gertie the Cow because she just reminds us of a sweet, quiet, peaceful cow grazing in the plains!

Her pre-rescue story is heartbreaking, but she will only know love, warmth and comfort from here on out. A Good Samaritan reached out to us with ghastly pictures of her living outside an apartment complex; her owner never let her in. She was emaciated with a large, spreading sore on her neck and back, and a swollen ear from some type of injury. Once we got her from owner thanks to animal control, she had surgery for the ear infection/hematoma and her wounds were treated. 

Just a few days post-surgery, she blossomed into a new dog and her personality has started to shine through. She is silly, affectionate, playful, loves back & belly rubs, loves other dogs big and small, and is just an all-around perfect girl. 

Please consider making Gertie a forever family member. We are looking for committed humans who realize adoption is forever. We're in the throes of a national animal-welfare crisis, and we desperately need dogs adopted. Along with spay/chip/vaccines, we will supply adopters of adult large-breed dogs a 6-mo supply of high-quality dog food kibble.
