Meet Archie! 

One of our volunteers took him in when someone tried to surrender him to the vet. He had a few injuries - a paw pad abrasion that resulted in a small part of his toe being amputated, and a a hip injury thst has since healed. 

Since then, he has seen mutliple vets and is a regualr at VCA Northside because he has a rare auto-immune disorder that affects his bones. And Archie systematically nibbles and gnaws on himself to the bone to try and relieve what we can only guess is an insatiable "itchiness" caused by his illness. 

He had to have both hind legs amputated; regardless, has a zest for life and exudes a joy you have to experience to understand! His medical team adores him and the whole office lights up when Archie visits.
